If you are feeling stiff or lethargic a little stretching can make a big difference. Usually when you stretch, you stretch in straight lines. But have you noticed that the body is not really made up of straight lines? You can get a better stretch if you are using the natural curves and rotational patterns of the body. We have an exercise that will help you do that. It’s called the Plate Balancing Exercise. We call it that because the exercise involves the rotation of an open palm facing up, as if balancing a plate on your hand and keeping it from dropping. You rotate your hand in a big infinity loop, around your side and over your head.
With this one exercise you can improve flexibility all over your body, as movements in the shoulders, spine and hips are integrated with gentle movement of the wrists, elbows and knees. If you keep at it, you can work up a sweat and maybe even burn some fat. Try it for just ten minutes and feel the difference!
