WARM UP
Before beginning principal yoga exercises, Dahn Yoga practitioners are encouraged to warm up the body, especially the core.

Body Tapping
Body tapping is a traditional health practice in much of Asia. In Dahn Yoga body tapping is used as a warm-up exercise to release tension, stimulate circulation and unblock the body's "energy centers."
Abdominal Press
Dahn Yoga warm up also features an exercise for strengthening and releasing tension in the lower abdomen. This exercise relaxes the diaphragm and improves general circulation.

PRINCIPAL EXERCISES
"Dahn" means "energy" and Dahn Yoga is based on the East Asian understanding of life energy. Dahn Yoga is designed to help the practitioner develop self-awareness and improve the circulation of energy in the body.

Meridian Stretching
In Dahn Yoga the gentle stretching of muscles and joint rotations are designed to help ki (energy) flow more smoothly through the body's energy channels called "meridians."
Deep Breathing Postures
Dahn Yoga include special postures to encourage deep abdominal breathing for greater relaxation and activation of the body's central energy center or "dahn jon."

MEDITATION & COOL DOWN
Traditionally, the discipline of yoga has been used to help people meditate. Dahn Yoga meditation helps the practitioner develop healthy balance of relaxation in body and mind.

Energy Meditation
As practitioners develop greater body awareness and ability to relax, their level of concentration deepens. Dahn Yoga Energy Meditation accelerates this process by shifting the focus away from busy thoughts to the physical sensations of the body.
Brain Wave Vibration
Brain Wave Vibration is a form of moving meditation which is easier to master than traditional sitting meditation. Simple rhythmic movement helps to develop concentration and relaxation.
Cool-Down
After deep meditation, special Dahn Yoga stretching and sweeping exercises help to refresh and invigorate the body.

ENERGY MARTIAL ARTS
In addition to yoga and meditation Dahn Yoga may include energy martial arts as elements of a class or as special classes. These ancient practices help develop balance, awareness and improved health.

Ki Gong
Ki Gong involves meditative movement and breath awareness that help the practitioner accumulate "Ki" (energy) and develop insight. The simple exercises are suitable for people of all ages and ability levels.

Carolyn Gaters, Santa Clara center, CA

My Chronic Fatigue has disappeared For the past 5 years of my life I have suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a real debilitating syndrome. I had to wake up at least 1 to 2 hours before going to work in the mornings. And sometimes when I did get to work my body would shut down. My Doctor had talked to me about permanent disability.

No More Babying My Shoulder

Joan S, Santa Clara center, CA

No More Babying My Shoulder After 5 years of babying my shoulder from an injury I sustained lifting a 50 pound bucket with one arm, I can now use my shoulder without wincing in pain. For 5 years, I could not sleep on my left side for fear that my shoulder would slip out again. After just 6 weeks of Dahn Yoga classes, I was able to strengthen the muscles in the area that surround that part, and I have not had it slip out once since then.

Pain in legs is gone

Florita G, Santa Clara center, CA

Pain in legs is gone Then she recommended I do a specific exercise for my legs every night before I go to sleep. I shake my legs and arms for about ten minutes while laying down and then I go to sleep. I noticed the very next day that the pain I was feeling started to feel dull, almost gone. My friend checked up on me and I told her that I've been doing the leg exercise twice a day (as soon as I wake up and before I sleep). It has now been almost a month and my leg pain is now history.
