Wooden Pillow Open Class

Bring a friend Wooden pillow class.

This Thursday January 29th, Tempe Dahn Yoga will be offering a very special open class. Classes will be from 9:30 am - 10:30 am and from 7 pm - 8:o0 pm. Please confirm your attendance. Space  and wooden pillows are limited so we need to know you are coming. This class affectionately called Wooden Pillow class is a special form of healing and relaxation. Originating as an ancient Eastern healing device, today’s Wooden Pillows look simple enough–an arch shaped piece of lightweight wood with a flat bottom, about 2-3 inches in height.  Yet, uses for the pillows are numerous, so it is hard to cover them all in a single class!

Some of the ways a Wooden Pillow can be used include:

-Stepping on the pillow to open acupressure points in the feet

-Sitting with legs outstretched and the pillow underneath thighs, knees, and calves, to release muscle tension and increase flexibility

-Placing the pillow under the lower back to open the spine (be sure you know proper form with this one!)

-Placing the pillow under the abdomen while laying facedown and rocking side to side, clear stiffness and toxins from the internal organs and improves digestion

-Placing the pillow under the back of the neck, slowly moving head side to side, opens up stiffness in the neck (very good for before bed!)

Members will get to experience several of these techniques with detailed directions from the instructor, so they can later use the Wooden Pillow on their own. Please bring your wooden pillow if you already have one. We will have wooden pillows for sale, and we have a limited number for  your use during this class.  The classes are relaxing but also joyful and energizing.  For more information or to confirm your attendance, contact the Tempe Dahn Yoga Center at 480-345-9642.
