What is the difference between a Dahn Yoga Class and traditional yoga?
Jul 17, 06
There are many different styles of yoga. Most of them originated in India. Dahn Yoga is a Korean style of yoga. Similar to many Indian styles of yoga, Dahn Yoga also dates back several thousand years in its original principles. Some of the differences between modern Dahn Yoga and Indian yoga are that Dahn Yoga doesn't utilize "named" postures, and postures are typically not held for as long.
A regular basic yoga class may include meridian stretching (stretching to activate the major meridian channels in the body), breathing exercise, meditation, energy work and martial arts practice. Overall, however, our yoga class structure is a comprehensive training system, designed to help individuals manage their own bodies well, in order to become more healthy, happy and peaceful. Dahn Yoga also includes special programs, workshops, retreats and other advanced-level training for those with diverse interests. At Dahn Yoga, there is something for everyone.
