Pain Relief, Stress Relief, and Emotional Well-being

I attended my first Dahn Yoga class in December 2009. Within one year, my body transformed, and I shed 20 pounds! But, that is just the tip of the iceberg. I can now control my road rage, communicate calmly with family and friends, and smile through challenges at work. I have gained tools to control my emotions and focus my analytical mind.
As an electrical engineer, I practice discovering more efficient processes and procedures to obtain objectives faster with precision. This, of course, feeds my habit of perfectionism and led to overwhelming stress. I had so much tension in stored in my neck that it developed pain that radiated down both arms causing one hand to spasm with sharp pain and the other hand to feel numb. My chiropractor explained how the tension in my neck was the source of the physical pain in my arms as well as my periodic lightning-sharp headaches. Physical therapy helped me greatly manage the physical pain in my upper body by focusing on my neck. However, I knew I had to change other habits to prevent stress and release tension before it accumulated in my neck.
Through Dahn Yoga, I have learned to submerge myself more deeply into a mind-body connection, reveal the real source of my physical pain and prevent the mental and emotional strain that can result in physical pain and disease. My awareness has tremendously increased to the point that I catch myself before being consumed by frustration and actually choose how to respond rather than react. My family, friends and co-workers comment on how much they see I have changed. I no longer freely give in to anger and stress. I fight firmly and strategically for unlimited joy and unconditional love!!!
