Minister of Power: The Kidney Meridian
This month’s meridian is identified with the kidneys, water energy organs which house the body’s most important reservoir of essential energy, store primal life energy and inherited prenatal energy, or Jung, in their system, and distribute this Jung, which is controlled by water, to all the organs. This body energy system includes the adrenal glands, which influence metabolism, immunity, sexual potency and fertility.
Traveling an amazingly complex route that impacts diverse bodily functions and connects twenty-seven yin points, the Kidney (yin) Meridian begins at the Bladder (yang) Meridian; then from below the small toe to the leg, then to the spine, its trajectories pass through the kidneys, spirally wrap the bladder, pass through the liver and into the lungs, then spirally wrap the heart and end at the collarbone.

Tao 12 Markers #8. The Evolution of Love
Human beings may have been born to love. Within its bond, human beings cry because of love, and they laugh because of love. Commonly, when we hear the word “love,” we often think of romantic relationships. However, true love is not only expressed in a romantic sense. There are levels and sizes in love, too. The evolution of love can be divided generally into three stages according to the object loved and to the growth of one’s consciousness. First is love for individuals, second is love for an organization, and third is love for the cosmos.
Hyo
The first stage of love’s evolution is love for individuals, expressed as Hyo in Korea. Actually, the precise meaning of Hyo is the duty of children to serve their parents. Hyo, love for one’s parents, is a basic attitude that all human beings should have. Its meaning may vary somewhat due to the influences of time and place, but its essence is the same. What is the best way to practice Hyo? Hyo does not mean to simply support one’s parents materially; rather, it is the expression of spiritual oneness and gratitude that comes from a genuine and unconditionally loving heart.

Dahn Yoga Foundation Raises Money to Send 7 Lucky Children to Camp
Dahn Yoga Foundation’s charity fundraising event, the Walk for Children’s Laughter on August 13th in Sedona, Arizona, was an amazing success!
The benefit for Camp Soaring Eagle, an organization that provides camping opportunities for hundreds of children suffering from serious diseases like muscular dystrophy, diabetes, cancer, or severe asthma, was made possible through the support of many local businesses as well as Dahn Yoga practitioners.

Many participated in the walk on Sedona’s famed Bell Rock loop trail. With a $10 minimum donation to join the event, participants also optioned to gather donations and pledges from others; those who raised $50 or more were presented with a Walk for Children’s Laughter t-shirt. Through the success of this event, which totaled $3,500 in donations, the Dahn Yoga Foundation will be able to help seven children go to camp.
Dahn Yoga Foundation would like to thank the Sedona community and individuals who supported the Walk and donated their time and effort. The foundation’s dedication to community service projects is also rewarded since such efforts breathe new life into the ideals of Hongik.
