Yoga and Martial Arts for Children
In January 2011, Lynden Bridges developed a DahnMuDo (Dahn Martial Arts) outreach program for a local K-5 elementary school, teaching six classes with sixty to eighty kids in each class in Denver, Colorado.
The program was so well received that it has been requested for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. "The kids are really funny. In the beginning, some act as if they don't want to be there, whereas others really get into it. Teaching the two extremes can be a challenge but, as the class progresses, there is a tangible change in the energy. Some of the children discover they have great abilities; they improve and want more. DahnMuDo highlights abilities they have never used before."
He enjoys helping the kids develop their confidence—not a confidence that relates to where they fit into a group dynamic but in who they are as an individual. "The kids are put into a position where they can be a positive example," he says. "As they grow older, they will remember these classes. As they move through their lives, they will remember the concept of cosmic energy."
