2012: A New Sun Is Rising
What will happen in the year 2012? Is it really the countdown to doomsday or something else entirely?
If you have read The Call of Sedona or heard recent lectures by Ilchi Lee, founder of Dahn Yoga, you will remember that this time is deemed the beginning of a new era of “spiritual civilization.” This means that spiritual awareness or access to inner power will not be limited to a few—it will be accessible to many.
Specifically, “spiritual” here refers to a cultural shift in focus from material or physical aspects of our existence to more intangible concerns of the mind and spirit.
The era of spiritual civilization starts in your mind when you awaken not only the greatness dormant within your heart but also the power of creation that can manifest what you focus on into physical reality—through the medium of energy and energy principles!

Photo Meditation: Learning from a Cactus
Speeding through the Arizona desert in a car one day, my friend turns to me and says, “Look at the Saguaro cacti. Did you know those cacti are about two hundred years old? It’s supposed to take about a hundred years for just one of those branches to grow.”
I look out the window absentmindedly until the impact of those words suddenly reaches my brain and my eyes grow wide. “Two hundred years old? So that means those cacti have been living longer than I have? How many centuries have they been there?”
My field of vision expands from a cacti colony to a mountain covered with them and I ask, “Then what about that mountain? How long has it been here? And those rocks? Aren’t the real owners those who have held their place here so much longer than I have and longer than humankind has?”

Are You Meditating Now?
According to scientific research, the benefits of meditation are so numerous that it is actually difficult to list them all. For starters, though, meditation stabilizes brain waves into alpha waves, reduces oxygen consumption by 16 to 17 percent less than normal, improves blood circulation, and decreases stress levels.
However, for Dahn Yoga practitioners, it is not even necessary to measure results in the laboratory because those who focus and follow instruction well in their classes will experience immediate physiological responses.
How do you determine, then, if you have reached a state of meditation? In fact, there are three responses that indicate this state of mind, and they are easily determined during or right after your Dahn Yoga class.
Firstly, sweet saliva pools in your mouth. This phenomenon occurs when you are relaxed and the water energy in your spinal cord and brain flows smoothly. Conversely, anyone with nervous tension can probably remember having a dry mouth.
