One thousand attendees at DY’s first Power of Meditation event

If history is made by dreamers, then the Chicago Dahn Yoga community might have dreamed a historic event on November 20th, 2011, with The Power of Meditation workshop at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center.
Attended by almost a thousand Dahn Yoga members and public participants, the event’s dual purpose was the celebratory announcement of the Chicago Dahn Yoga community’s achievement of 10,000 Earth Citizens in Chicago and the launching of Dahn Yoga USA’s nationwide tour to introduce Dahn Yoga’s training methods and the power of meditation to the general public.
After a ChunBuShinGong demonstration by Chicago Dahn Masters and Dotong Gunjas that was deeply moving to the audience, the Chicago Power Drumming Team gave a magnificent performance that elicited enthusistic cheers from the audience. Then, following a touching rendition of “Nella Fantasia” sung by Kaori Williams that calmed and gathered minds, Dahn Yoga founder Ilchi Lee shared his wisdom and insight with attendees.

Ilchi Lee opened his lecture with a video clip depicting the power of breathing and meditation, and then led the audience to feel energy in their hands with simple motions and concentration. The audience experienced Jigam, Dahnmu and Brain Wave Vibration. As all Dahn Yoga members know, these are simple yet powerful training methods. One member of the audience, Hana Marek of Libertyville, said, “My body heated up so fast and so well with the Brain Wave Vibration that, upon stopping the vibration, I felt a great surge of energy inside.” This described exactly what Ilchi Lee wanted for attendees—to acknowledge and experience the existence of a domain beyond the five senses.
He explained three powers all human being possess: the power of self-healing, the power of insight, and the power of creation through the process of fusion. He emphasized that each human being has an unlimited capacity in their own brain, a capacity limited only by one’s preconceptions. Finally, he guided participants to receive LifeParticles along with his singing bowl sound and LifeParticle flash.
The event’s significance will ultimately be proven through the growth of Dahn Yoga in 2012. Indeed, its goal of ushering in an era of spiritual civilization requires a clear shift in public consciousness. By providing simple yet powerful tools such as breathing and meditation to the greater public, the power of the meditation tour shows a possible path for a large-scale revolution in consciousness in the year ahead. As we wait for the seeds of this event to grow and flower, we give our deep appreciation to the Chicago Dahn Yoga community for its initiative.
